The Yamaha electric golf car, after having been upgraded with FPT Software’s latest autonomous technologies, completed a full journey of 4 kilometers around Ecopark without human interaction. The route was designed with five bus stops and various cross-sections to form a slightly challenging environment for the vehicle.
Vietnam’s leading information technology company FPT and Japanese motorcycle maker Yamaha Motor (Yamaha) a have entered into a memorandum of understanding on Thursday to develop self-driving electric vehicles through FPT’s autonomous technologies.
Vietnam's FPT aims to jostle into competition among industry titans like Apple and Google over autonomous vehicles by commercializing a low-cost system within the next two years. Last year FPT set up a 1,000-person team dedicated to developing self-driving technology. In October, it unveiled an autonomous driving system.
